Let’s be honest for a second—nothing in ARC Raiders makes your stomach drop faster than hearing the whine and clank of a Shredder somewhere close. If you’ve wandered the halls of Stella Montis, you’ll know. One second, you’re happily looting, and the next, this hovering brute slices through your squad like butter. They’re quick, relentless, and if you’re not ready, they’ll flatten you before you even get your bearings. Forget those wild tips you’ve read about fancy strafe moves or gimmicky combos—those will get you killed. The Shredder’s spinning shotgun blast covers every angle, so being out in the open is basically signing your own death warrant. It’s nastier than a Hornet, spreads wider than a Wasp, and the only real way to win is to know exactly where to aim. When it comes to tactics, studying them is as important as knowing your ARC Raiders BluePrint if you want to walk away alive.
The body of a Shredder might as well be made of tank plating—most light or medium ammo just bounces off. The thrusters, though, are your ticket. Put your rounds into those and you’ll knock it out of the air. Don’t relax when it hits the floor; grounded Shredders still spray lead, just from a clumsier angle and with shorter reach. That’s your window to move in and finish, but it’s still dangerous if you hang around too long.
Once it’s grounded, fire is your friend. A Fireball Burner or even a basic grenade can strip away its protection. Heavy punch weapons like the Anvil or Ferro chew straight through the exposed frame, making the kill faster. Sure, you could nuke it with a Wolfpack Grenade and be done in a second, but that’s expensive and better saved for something truly terrifying. Unless you’re swimming in resources, stick to the tools that make sense for the fight.
Firing on a Shredder is basically sounding an alarm—every other player nearby will know something’s up. If another team shows up mid-fight, you don’t want to get stuck fighting both them and the bot. One dirty but effective trick is to toss a Lure Grenade in their direction. The Shredder will instantly focus them, giving you space to either bug out or pick them off in the chaos. It’s not pretty, but it keeps you alive and sometimes nets extra loot.
Taking on a Shredder is usually worth the effort. They drop Gyros and plenty of recyclables that fetch a decent price, and they often sit on top-tier POIs hiding serious loot. Just keep your head, use solid cover, and never—seriously—never try charging them with melee. Walk in prepared, fight smart, and you’ll grab the rewards without burning through your life tokens, and maybe even walk out with enough for that next upgrade or cheap BluePrint you’ve been eyeing.
