Diablo 4 officially introduces the long-awaited Tower and Leaderboards system in beta form, allowing players to embark on new extreme challenges in the seasonal realm.
What is The Tower?
The Tower is a brand-new, time-limited, multi-layered random dungeon challenge. Players must traverse through layers of the tower within a limited time, defeat enemies, accumulate progress, and ultimately defeat a randomly generated final boss.Having plenty of Diablo 4 items or gold might help you perform well in this challenge.
Entry Requirements: After completing Rank 2 of the current season, you can access The Tower via the Obelisk in Cerrigar.
Core Gameplay
- Random Layers and Monster Families: Each entry into the tower will present different terrain and monster combinations, making each attempt unique.
- Timed Challenge and Scoring Mechanism: Your goal is to advance through as many tower layers as possible within the time limit, finding a balance between killing enemies and progression speed to achieve a high score.
- Pylon Enhancements: You will find Pylons in the tower; destroying them will temporarily enhance your abilities. Choosing and utilizing these buffs correctly is key to achieving a high score.
- Final Boss: When the progress reaches the trigger condition, a random final boss will be summoned. Defeating it completes the Tower challenge and your score will be recorded on the leaderboard.
- Leaderboard Mechanism Explained: The leaderboard system is a competitive mechanism closely integrated with The Tower. Every Tower challenge attempt will record your score and display it on the global leaderboard.
Leaderboard Season Schedule
The leaderboard will refresh every two weeks and will end before the end of the season. Example Time Periods:
Round 1: 1/12 — 1/26
Round 2: 1/26 — 2/9
…
Specific times may be adjusted during the Beta
Leaderboards will be compiled based on the following categories:
- Normal and Hardcore modes separated
- Different classes
- Solo and multiplayer teams (2-4 players)
Platform and friend/clan filtering functions, increasing flexibility for comparison and competition
Currently, the Beta phase does not have direct in-game rewards linked to the leaderboard, but the developers plan to integrate more reward tracking mechanisms in future seasons.
Tower Challenge Tips
1. Clarify your goals:
To achieve a high ranking, it's not just about going further, but also about speed and efficiency. Making good use of time and minimizing unnecessary detours is key.
2. Utilize Shrines effectively:
The choice of Shrine buffs depends on your class mechanics and overall build. If you need short-term burst damage, prioritize attack power buffs; if you prefer sustained progression, consider defensive and movement buffs.
3. Understand monsters and nodes:
Different floors have different monster combinations and monster types with varying levels of danger. Familiarizing yourself with common configurations will help you avoid inefficient combat during your runs.
4. Team vs. Solo:
While multiplayer mode is more difficult, with good teamwork, sharing the pressure and burst damage can lead to faster floor progression and better results.
Beta Notes and Feedback Channels
Since the gameplay is still in the Beta testing phase, you may encounter. Bugs or unbalanced builds leading to abnormal high-score routes.Strength imbalances in certain classes. Features not yet integrated with the reward system
Blizzard encourages players to submit feedback through official forums and communities to help them adjust difficulty, enhance monster diversity, introduce reward mechanisms, and improve features.
The Tower and its leaderboard will not be a one-time feature, but a continuously refined and developed endgame system. Future seasons will continuously improve gameplay and rewards based on feedback, and may expand to include more content.
