If you've been dropping into ARC Raiders on repeat, the next big update looks like the kind of reset the game needed. Riven Tides lands on April 28, 2026, and the early details already point to rougher matches, smarter pathing, and way more pressure in open fights. The new coastal sector sounds nasty in a good way, with places like the Exodus Hotel, the Harbour, and the Customs House turning into key landmarks, and if you've been stocking up on ARC Raiders Items, you'll probably want them ready before the floodwater starts messing with every familiar route. That's the part that really changes things. Water levels rising around the beachfront and sea wall won't just look cool. They'll slow pushes, expose bad rotations, and force players to think twice before crossing what used to be safe ground.
A new map that punishes lazy movement
You can already tell this zone won't forgive autopilot play. A lot of players get comfortable once they learn the usual lanes, but that probably won't work here. Flooded areas mean the terrain itself becomes part of the fight. You're not only checking rooftops and windows anymore. You're watching submerged paths, awkward angles, and escape routes that may vanish mid-run. That kind of map design usually rewards the player who stays patient for an extra second. It also punishes anyone who panics and sprints in a straight line. If the water shifts how it sounds and how it slows movement, gunfights could get messy fast, which honestly feels perfect for this game.
The Expedition grind is getting flipped
The old Expedition setup is being tossed out, and that's probably for the best. From April 28 through May 11, skill points are tied to damage instead of stash value or coin farming. It's simple. Hit 5,000 damage and you get 1 SP. Reach 10,000 for 2 SP. Keep climbing through the event and 100,000 damage gets you the full 5 SP. There's something cleaner about that system. It tells players to actually engage, not sit in the weeds protecting loot value. If you missed registration, there's still a Last Call option at login. That won't hand out skill points, but it does remove the damage gate so you can finish the caravan instead of being locked out completely.
Why Bastion fights are never private
Bastion farming is still one of the most useful and most dangerous things you can do. If you need Bastion Cells, you have to bring one down, and that means making a lot of noise. The smart way to loot is pretty straightforward once you've learned it the hard way: check the chassis first, then the core, then work through the broken armor and damaged legs. That's usually where the better payoff is. The catch, of course, is everyone nearby can hear the fight. So the second a Bastion goes active, the whole area starts leaning in. If you're with a squad, remember the loot gets split, which can make the risk feel even sharper.
Watch the sky and play dirtier if you have to
The other thing hanging over this update is that teased Large ARC threat. The description makes it sound slow, heavy, and airborne, which is enough to make anyone rethink cover and weapon choice. A threat above the battlefield changes everything below it. Suddenly rooftops aren't just strong positions. They're bait. And if you're still trying to finish your event progress or collect what you need for the caravan, there's a good chance Expedition Material becomes part of your wider prep while everyone else is busy staring upward. Sometimes the cleanest win in ARC Raiders isn't earned in a fair fight. Sometimes it comes from letting another team start the chaos, then stepping in when the noise dies down a little.
