Both Luka Dončić and Marcus Smart will be sitting out for the Lakers on Sunday, contrary to what head coach JJ Redick mentioned on Saturday. Redick clarified that he misspoke during his earlier practice comments when he said Smart would be playing. However, he did add that both players are expected to participate in two of the remaining three preseason games.

The Lakers had games on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday this week, so it seems unlikely either player would be active for a back-to-back. It’s probable that neither will play on Wednesday.

On the bright side, at least the Lakers won’t face a fully-loaded Warriors squad again!

While Marcus Smart is slated to make his preseason debut for the Lakers on Sunday, Luka Dončić’s status remains uncertain https://www.losangeleslakerssportapparel.com/collections/james-worthy-jersey.

Following practice on Saturday, Redick provided updates on a few key Lakers, including both Luka and Smart, and discussed how many preseason games Luka will likely play. With the Lakers set to play four games in six days next week, having Luka participate in just two of them seems like a reasonable plan. It’s likely he’ll play on Sunday and then again in one of the other games to maintain rest.

Smart, who missed the first week of training camp and the first two exhibition games, has been practicing this week, aside from one day when he was sidelined with flu-like symptoms. He’s expected to return to the court but might be limited in terms of playing time and game appearances next week https://www.losangeleslakerssportapparel.com/collections/trey-jemison-iii-jersey.

Lastly, Redick confirmed that Austin Reaves, who sat out the previous game against the Warriors, will be available for Sunday’s matchup.
