So you’ve made it to Act 4 and now you’re staring down The Prisoner. He’s one of those bosses that can stop you in your tracks if you try to brute force it. This fight’s all about reading his moves and staying in the right spot at the right time. You’ll notice his huge chain sweep pretty quick – the wind-up is obvious, he yanks the chain back like he’s about to knock down a wall. The moment you see that, you either dash right through him to the other side or back off fast. Melee players, that’s your cue to get out. Ranged folks should already be keeping that gap, but make sure you’re not anywhere near the arc of the swing. When he finishes, there’s a short pause while he recovers – that’s your window to get in a couple of hits before moving again. And trust me, grabbing a few safe hits is better than eating a chain to the face, no matter how much PoE 2 Currency you’ve farmed.

His other big move is the ground slam. He lifts his weapon high, then smashes it down, sending a shockwave out in front of him.

This one’s easier to dodge – a quick sidestep or dash will do it. The tricky part is when he mixes the chain sweep and the slam together. That’s when people get caught moving the wrong way. Keep your eyes on his shoulders and weapon; his body language tells you what’s coming way before it hits. If you’re watching him instead of your own cooldown bar, you’ll start dodging on instinct.

Once you knock him down to about sixty percent health, things get messy. He starts charging parts of the floor with electricity, and those zones will chew through your health if you linger. This is where you’ve got to keep calm and move with purpose. Don’t just run around in circles – you’ll box yourself into a corner fast. Keep shifting around him, staying in safe spots, and be ready to adjust if he cuts off part of the arena. It’s a constant balance between avoiding the electrified areas and still being close enough to punish him after his slower attacks.

Every build can beat him, but the common mistake is getting greedy. You land a couple of good hits and think you can finish the combo – that’s when he catches you. It’s better to chip away at him, bit by bit, than to get flattened trying to rush the kill. Respect the chain sweep, dodge the slam, and control your movement when the floor starts lighting up. Do that, stay patient, and you’ll drop him without too much trouble – and maybe even walk away with some extra path of exile 2 currency.
