Embark is changing the whole rhythm of Expeditions in ARC Raiders, and if you've been building your progress around stash value alone, this update is gonna force a rethink. A lot of players spent ages scooping up scrap, rare bits, and anything else that could pad their numbers. That loop is fading fast. With the late April 2026 Riven Tides update, progression starts leaning much harder into combat performance, which makes ARC Raiders Items feel less like trophies sitting in storage and more like tools you actually use under pressure. It's a sharp shift, sure, but for plenty of players it'll probably feel more honest.

How the new Expedition flow works

The old permanent skill point system, where your stash total did most of the heavy lifting, is being replaced once you complete your Caravan objective. After that, a new challenge kicks in automatically. You get five days during the Expedition event, and the job is simple: deal as much damage as you can. That's it. No more treating your inventory like the main game. If you like gadgets, they count. If you're the type who sticks to a rifle and clean shots, that counts too. You'll notice pretty quickly that the game is pushing you to fight, move, and commit instead of playing it safe and stuffing your bag with every last piece of junk.

Catch-up still matters

Not everyone can show up for every season, and Embark seems to get that. So the catch-up system isn't disappearing. It's still tied to stash value, which honestly makes sense for players coming back after a break. If you missed permanent skill points from earlier Expedition cycles, you can buy them back at a cost of 300,000 stash value or coins per point. That's not cheap, and it's not supposed to be. Still, it gives returning players a route back into the meta without handing them a free pass. You've got a way to recover, but you'll need to work for it.

Rewards that actually feel worth chasing

The reward track looks solid, especially if you care about permanent unlocks. Each Expedition adds 12 stash space, and that alone is useful enough to get people involved. On top of that, there's the Patchwork Outfit (Evolved), which has a nice amount of freedom baked into it. You can switch around the helmet, bandolier, and leg accessories, so it doesn't feel like a one-note cosmetic. The extra colour options, like White and Red or Black and Green, help too. And yeah, the Scrappy Turban is probably gonna get plenty of attention. These rewards land better because they don't just sit there looking pretty; they make your account feel like it's actually growing.

Why this could change how people play

 

The streak bonuses might be the real hook. Keep showing up for Expeditions and you can build from 5% to 15% XP, gain 18% more materials, and push repair value bonuses up to 80%. Miss a window, though, and that chain breaks. That pressure is going to change player habits in a big way. People who used to treat Expeditions like background chores will have to engage properly now, and that's probably the point. Finish the Caravan objective, register before the deadline, then be ready to fight when the event opens. If this system lands the way Embark wants, players chasing cheap ARC Raiders Items won't just be thinking about stockpiling anymore, they'll be thinking about damage, timing, and whether they can keep their streak alive.
